Heller promotes half-truths

Pasadena Star News

Karen Heller is still promoting the old half-truth that women do more housework than men, while refusing to include hours worked outside the home ("Make strides, but women still do more work," Nov. 26).

A 2002 study by the University of Michigan found women work an average of 11more hours per week than men inside the home, but that men work an averageof 14 more hours per week outside the home.

Why don't Heller and other feminists include this reality? Men also have longer commutes and make up 92 percent of occupational deaths while comprising 54 percent of the work force.

As long as our media looks to feminists for their stories on gender disparities, a realistic picture will never be given.
